Well, the technical term to describe our systems is “simultaneous interpretation systems” since translation refers to something written and interpretation to something spoken; however, a lot of people use those terms interchangeably. But to answer your question, simultaneous interpretation means that the main speaker is continuously talking and is not making pauses to allow the interpreter to catch up. Consequently, the interpreter is listening to the main speaker and speaking their interpretation at the same time with minimal lag.
No, despite advances in technology, currently a human interpreter is the best one to perform simultaneous interpretation accurately. There are some systems and software that can attempt to, but the quality of the interpretation is still very far from what a professional interpreter or even a volunteer can provide.
A complete system should include a transmitter with an FCC ID clearly displayed connected to a microphone and headphones for the interpreter (these could be separate devices or a single headset microphone) and wireless receivers with headphones for the audience; quantities will depend on the needs of each venue in terms of number of participants and foreign languages.

Electronic devices don’t last forever, and it is expected of them to die out after a certain number of years, but this period should last at least 10-12 years depending on the product. When ordering a product with lifetime warranty you can have peace of mind you won’t have to worry about replacing it after a couple of years.
That would depend on the setting where they are going to be used. Sometimes there’s no other option but to locate the interpreter right next to the audience, in those cases a booth will probably be necessary to both provide a quiet environment for the interpreter to work, and to isolate him or her from the audience, since the sound of the interpreter’s voice can be distracting to the people nearby. In other cases, there’s ample room to place the interpreter away from the audience (backstage, in an adjacent room, all the way to the back of the venue), and the distance itself already fulfills the function that a booth would do. When selecting a booth, mobile ones are recommended for easy transportation. They can be tabletop to put on top of a table or walk-in, fully encapsulated with removable working table.
